East Central FFA Awarded Yearlong Living to Serve Grant

The grant will be used to continue the EC Re-Leaf program on the campus of East Central High School.

(St. Leon, Ind.) - National FFA awarded more than $260,000 to FFA chapters in 33 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands thanks to its Yearlong Living to Serve Grants.

The nationwide program provides money to local FFA chapters to support yearlong service-learning projects that address needs related to community safety; environmental responsibility; hunger, health and nutrition; and community engagement.

Tractor Supply Company and Cargill sponsor the grants. 

Members of the East Central FFA will utilize the $3,000 grant to continue the EC Re-Leaf program on the campus of East Central High School. 

They will be removing non-native landscape vegetation and replacing it with native trees, shrubs and herbaceous perennials. Plantings will help wildlife and native pollinators as well as beautifying the school campus. 

The EC Re-Leaf program was established in 2017.
